Dear Resident , As we are all aware, we have had awful weather recently that has led to a lot of issues. This includes traffic related incidents such as road traffic incidents. Please read some quick, but important advice to keep you safe this winter when driving: Check your vehicle is okay to drive! This includes checking tyres are all in good condition, making sure you have engine oil and of course, fuel to get to your destination.Don’t forget windscreen wash… with all the grit/salt on roads, it can cause a very dirty windscreen which can be a big issue when you realise your visibility is obstructed…Ensure you have winter clothing, water, snacks and hi vis cone/ equipment in your vehicle.DRIVE SENSIBLY! Whether the roads are icy or wet, you need to adjust your speed to these conditions. For example, going slower around roundabouts, bends or even generally reducing your speed. Black ice: this is invisible, slippery ice that is extremely dangerous as drivers cannot see it, this is why its important to reduce speed. Officers are working hard to help individuals who have been in road traffic collisions, but to also proactively deal with vehicles that are driving inappropriately such as putting stops in, giving words of advice or even seizing vehicles. Stay safe, PC ABAGIU.
